By Leon Winter

The problem with fear is its effects on an individuals opportunity for any sort of development as well as success. Fear alone can be a hindrance and can hurt a person's ability to make it through life so sometimes, a person's phobias can influence their life and become devoid of reason. A person who allows it to rule their life can be prevented from leading a normal existence. Unfortunately the one with the fear is not the only one affected, but other,s including family, friends, and the people around him.

Fear is healthy because it makes a person see what of what is happening around him. A person can actually make their fears work for them instead of trying to hinder them however this takes much self control and some positive thinking. This fear can be caused by an event that happened in the past, or by a belief that they are incapable of managing with something. Some fears that have a real basis, but most are just the product of a wild imagination.

Phobia is the phrase that is used for a fear of a particular thing but a few like this can be irrational so these phobias can be just plain ridiculous like a fear of cats, or even water. Some with these phobias are quite conscious of the fact that it isn't based with rational thinking however, they are not able to get hold of their emotions and rising above it.

Some people are quick to equate phobia with insanity but it's not at all fair to conclude that just because a person has a phobia, it means there is something wrong with their sanity. Phobias can be very embarrassing most definitely when it's uncontrollable and there are people who will not be able to control themselves when they come face to face with them.

Phobias can be very elementary like the fear of being in a tight space or they can be complicated, such as an airplane related phobia however a social phobia can take the form of not being able to speak in public or of being surrounded by a crowd. Most phobias are characterized by sudden panic attacks such as when the person is confronted by their phobia and where they are forced to come face-to-face with it. It's perfectly normal to fear because rationality involves fear but fear that has no basis in reality and has no basis is known as a phobia. It's no longer a normal fear and can interrupt on the way a person lives.

A person seeking to get rid of their phobic disorder should not seek the advice of doctors who will delve into the mind to find the actual cause and such an activity can be a waste of time since finding the cause of the phobia will not destroy it. What is a lot more critical is to have determination so that fears so that your fears will no longer affect emotions. If a person can figure out how to influence their own emotions their fears will no longer control them. - 16890
