Nevada RSVP Spring Fun Fair

By Sive Iver

The Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) were created in 1971. RSVP is a non-profit and self sponsored organization that aims to serve senior citizen aging from 55 and above. The organization provides meaningful programs like volunteering for different settings in the community. The organizations allow its volunteers to choose their own schedule on what activity, when they will volunteer and how many hours they will volunteer.

The RSVP creates and provides an opportunity to where the senior citizen of the community can still feel the sense of worth and services. These senior citizens have gathered a life long experiences that we the young generation might get the chance to learn from.

RSVP had the aim to help the low income senior citizen to support themselves so that they can stay in their home for as long as possible. At the beginning of RSVP they only serviced five rural communities. But RSVP has grown bigger and better over the years. Now they cater to about 15 to 17 rural areas in Nevada.

In order for the organization to support their Home Companion and Lifeline programs. They sponsored three fund raising events every year. For this years schedule events it is Spring Fun Fair on May 7 to May 10, 2009, July 4th celebration on July 2 to July 5, 2009 and the Nevada Days Celebration on October 29 to November 1, 2009.

On may 7 to May 10, 2009 the Spring Fun Fair event will be held at the Mills Park in Carson City. To attract more attendees to the event there will be no admission free for the public. The venue is just a walking distance and there are enough parking spaces for everyone. If you are a vendor that wishes to join this event you can email branded@rsvp.carson-city.nv.us for more information. - 16890
