Custom iPhone Ringtones for Mac Users

By Thom Yarbrough

Yes, finally Mac users can now rejoice because Apple has now introduced a way to create your favorite songs into ringtones for your super cool iPhone. For this, you will need the GarageBand on your Mac, most probably version 4.1.1 because this version allows you to convert your favourite songs into custom ringtones either from your iTunes or even any other place where you store your favourite music.

From the iTunes the process is so uncomplicated. All you have to do is open GarageBand and drag and drop your favorite songs from iTunes into GarageBand into a whole new track. After that, all you have to do is just activate the region loop tool by clicking on the Cycle Region button and then select the length of the ringtone according to your need. Remember your selection has to be within 40 seconds as that's the maximum compatible length.

When everything is according to your preferences, all you have to do is to click Share and then click on Send Ringtone to iTunes. GarageBand does all the work of converting the song to the required format and then deposit the song as a ringtone in iTunes. After that you just have to connect your iPhone to iTunes and sync both. As simple as that!

However, if you want to create ringtones from the music outside of your iTunes that too can be done. The same steps have to be followed for the conversion. However, before that you will have to build your tracks in GarageBand and then follow the same steps for the conversion.

GarageBand is unique for Mac users alone and Windows PCs cannot benefit from this. However there are so many other ways in which Windows users too can create ringtones from their favorite music tracks. But the process just got a lot simpler for Mac users who now don't have the hassle of converting formats. All they have to do now is just a few clicks and everything is done and without any effort and splendidly. - 16890
