How to Perform a Reverse Phone Number Search

By Mark Black

Trying to do a reverse telephone number search on a cell phone can cause quite a problem, specifically if the number is needed urgently. This is because many cell numbers are not listed. While this can cause a problem when wanting a specific number urgently, it is not impossible.

The urgency can range from getting prank calls to constantly seeing a number you don't recognize on your spouse's cell phone or bill which raises some suspicion. No matter what causes the urgency, there are ways to retrieve a phone number's owner.

There are many ways to find out who owns a number. For landlines, you can rely upon the white pages. For unlisted numbers, there are online data bases which might need a little work on your part.

When the number is a cell phone number; Cell phone network providers usually do not release the owner's details to the public domain. This makes a cell phone search slightly more difficult but not impossible. One way to find the owner is by going on the net and typing the number in the search box with the area code; sometimes it works and it's free. You can try calling the number from a landline phone booth using *67 although this is probably the least 'sensible' thing to do because you could be letting the 'prankster' or spousal cheater know that you're on to them. this will cause them to just change the number.

There is another option that is less time consuming and easier to use; it's called the reverse telephone number search. It's not a free service; it does involve a small fee usually $10 -$35. This is because the online databases continuously have to be updated with the new numbers.

With a reverse telephone number search, it's important to use one that allows you to test whether the cell phone number's owner is on the database or not. - 16890
