Have you ever tried Brainstorming? Would you like to Brainstorm? Do you want you team to Brainstorm together? The idea (pun intended) of Brainstorming is an excellent method for creating awesome ideas and creative plans. If you think of companies like Google, Pixar, and Walt Disney; these companies are amazing examples of Innovation, Creativity, Leadership, and Team Building - they are using brainstorming. You too have the capability as well as the opportunity to take advantage of this great tool with your Children's Ministry team.
Why should you Brainstorm? Simply, it is an opportunity to benefit from the experiences of your team members and harness those life experiences to create something unique for your ministry. You know your kids and your ministry better than anyone else so get your team together and have fun creating something new that they will love.
So the real question is how do I go about facilitating one of these Brainstorming sessions? CMBuzz has created a simple step-by-step method for you. Step One - set up a place and a time to meet right now. Step Two - Ensure that the place you hold your brainstorming session is fun and inviting, preferrably not a classroom.
Step 3 - round up a lot of fun toys and such and put them on top of the table. These can be Legos, Playdoh, Hot Wheels, K'nex, or Nerf Guns, you get the idea. Step 4 - Have a lot of different ways to write down all of the ideas. Use White Boards, Post-It notes, markers etc. Step 5 - Select the topic that you plan on Brainstorming about, then try and keep everyone focused. Once your team has reached this step remember - there are no bad ideas. Step 6 - Record any and every thought, while trying to keep everyone moving along and a decent pace. Step Seven - Now that you are done recording ideas, try to start narrowing down your list. You only want to keep ideas that will actually benefit you team.
Now you should develop some actionable plans for the amazing idea your team has discovered together. Leave your Brainstorming session with a set of Goals that are measurable and a set of Action Steps to achieve those Goals. - 16890
